Obsequio group has added another fire safety specialist to its expanding stable, with the acquisition this week of West Midlands based Bryland Fire Protection.

The company brings its fire suppression skill set to the group and will enable Obsequio to expand its geographical footprint, as well as adding the growing data centre industry to its portfolio.

Bryland, which has been offering a full fire safety service to clients in the industrial and commercial sector for more than five decades, has numerous BAFE, BSI and FIA accreditations and a string of awards under its belt.

It has extensive expertise in the facilities management, logistics, waste management, data centre, education, and leisure sectors. Its expansive fire suppression offerings include inert gas and environmentally sustainable systems. This and Bryland’s strong fire extinguisher business both complement existing group operations.

The combination of Bryland’s base in the West Midlands and its national coverage will enable Obsequio group to increase its scope in the region and across the UK.

Bryland’s operations director Marie Griffiths and commercial and technical director Chris Wright will continue to run the business, while previous owner and MD Graham Turner will act as a consultant to the company.

Obsequio group chairman Simon Cashmore said: “We’re delighted to welcome Bryland into the growing Obsequio family. Through building a strong relationship with Graham over the past couple of years we know the company shares the same vision and ethos as the wider group.

“Alongside our sister fire safety companies Brunel Fire and Security , APS Security and Fire, CDS and Drax360, it will enable us to offer wider geographical coverage and even greater  expertise in detecting and tackling fires and ensuring companies remain compliant.

“Its acquisition will also strengthen our ability to offer a range of related services to new and existing customers, giving them access to a cost-effective and timesaving one-stop-shop for all aspects of compliance – security, fire, water, energy and electrical safety. It’s part of our committed buy and build strategy to widen our geographical reach, the sectors we support and the services we can provide.”

Graham Turner added: “With such a rock-solid pedigree and loyal clients who have been with us for many years I wanted to ensure that Bryland, which has been in my family for more than 50 years, found a home which matched our values.

“We also wanted to ensure we retained our independence within a wider organisation and that the management remained the same to ensure consistency for our customers. We’re thrilled to have found our new home and are delighted to have become the latest addition to the Obsequio family.”
