Obsequio Group expands into Northern Ireland with the acquisition of a significant stake in a Belfast based company

Obsequio Group is expanding into Northern Ireland, with the acquisition of a majority stake of a fire and security company in Belfast.

The deal also sees the Group add an innovative new service to its offering – energy and remote metering - which will enable clients to reduce carbon emissions and utility bills and meet ESG and carbon reduction compliance targets.

The Obsequio investment will enable Atlas World, which has been operating in Northern Ireland for more than four decades, to offer existing clients a wider range of services, via the other member companies.

At the same time, it will provide a more geographically diverse client base to the Obsequio Group, building its presence in Northern Ireland and enabling access to EU markets via Atlas’ established relationships with customers in the Republic of Ireland.

In addition to offering Obsequio’s core services – fire and security systems, CCTV and access control - Atlas and its 71-strong team offer renewable energy services, such as solar PV, EV charging and air source heat pumps, along with assistance technologies such as warden and nurse call systems and home automation.

Working in the commercial, industrial, hospitality and healthcare sectors, the BAFE- approved company holds NSI Gold and RECI Safe Electric accreditations, is an Investor in People, an NICEIC approved contractor, and is Constructionline and NAPIT certified.

The leadership team in Atlas World will all remain with the business and maintain a significant shareholding. Graeme White will continue as managing director, with support from Stephen McConnell, Patrick Dickson, Peter Gibson and Gavin Nesbitt, while founder John Nesbitt will continue to support the business as a consultant.

The acquisition is Obsequio’s fourth in the past year, with each company adding a service or geographical expansion, in line with its buy-and-build strategy.

Obsequio group M&A director Philip Sarthou said: “We have acquired five companies over the past 12 months to enable us to broaden both our geographical reach and our service offering. This latest investment ticks both these boxes – bringing us an innovative new income stream via the remote metering service as well as enabling the group to venture into Northern Ireland and the EU.”

Obsequio group chairman Simon Cashmore added: “We’re very excited about establishing a presence in Northern Ireland with a view of building into the Republic of Ireland and about offering a remote metering service which enables organisations to reduce their carbon footprints and utilities expenditure across the mainland.”

Atlas World managing director Graeme White said: “We’re delighted to become part of the Obsequio Group. Being part of a larger compliance-focused organisation will enable us to offer our existing customers a wider selection of services and to forge new commercial relationships across Northern Ireland and beyond.”
